WORSHIP PASTOR Responsibility To: Senior Pastor Job Description: Purpose: To oversee and facilitate praise and worship at the local church. To insure worship at all the local church functions corresponds to the beliefs and practices of the local church. To insure that the correct individuals are being developed and deployed into the worship ministry at the local church. To develop and deploy worship leaders for all Small Group and ministry groups. To develop and deploy new worship leaders and teams for celebration times (IE. Sunday Services) and new church planting teams. To introduce new songs monthly into the congregation. To have the highest quality of sound possible for corporate gatherings. To provide resources and materials for worship and worship training, as well as other training, teaching needs. To maintain financial responsibility for the entire worship department. Tasks: 1. the local church Beliefs a) Know each individual worship leader and be aware of their personal worship leading beliefs, practices, and abilities as they relate to the beliefs of the local church. 2. Staffing a) Responsible for the selection of all worship leaders, musicians and singers that lead worship. b) Responsible for being aware of worship leader / musician's spiritual walk. c) Responsible for pastoring worship leaders. 3. Small Group & Ministry Groups a) Responsible for the selection of worship leaders for Small Groups. b) Responsible for the selection of worship leaders for other ministry groups (prayer groups, men's/women's ministry groups, etc.) c) Responsible for training worship leaders for all groups. 4. Worship Teams a) Responsible for the selection, development and deployment of new worship leaders and teams for Sunday worship services. b) Responsible for the selection, development and deployment of new worship leaders and teams for new church plants. 5. Song Selection a) Responsible for weekly gathering's worship song selections. b) Responsible for introducing new songs. c) Responsible for updating and distributing worship song resources, tools and support information/systems. d) Responsible for rehearsals with Worship Pastor's own worship team. e) Responsible for Computer Video Projection. 6. Sound Quality a) Responsible for sound system. b) Responsible for sound technicians. c) Responsible for staying abreast of new sound technologies. d) Responsible for maintenance of the sound system. e) Responsible for keeping a prioritized and updated list for the Senior Pastor with prices of music supplies and equipment to be purchased. 7. Resource Center a) Responsible for selection and training of Resource Center Coordinator. b) Responsible for providing direction to Resource Center Coordinator on the worship materials (books, DVDs and CDs) to be purchased for support of worship ministry. c) Responsible for overseeing selection of clerks for Resource Center. 8. Worship Training a) Responsible for Annual Worship conferences or celebrations with nationally known worship leaders. b) Responsible for developing worship training programs which meeting the on-going training needs of the the local church worship ministry. (IE. 6-week worship workshops) 9. Worship Department Finances a) Responsible for financial oversight and solvent operation of the Resource Center, sound system, worship team equipment, worship training materials, worship conferences and any paid staffing, as approved by the Senior Pastor. b) Responsible for developing a yearly budget for the entire worship department. c) Responsible for developing a project budgets for worship conferences or events. Time Required: 20-30 hours per week Length of Service: Appointment of Senior Pastor Qualifications & Skills Required: 1. Meet the qualifications of an "Elder" (pastor) as defined by the local church. 2. Meet the qualifications of Worship Team Leader. Training: OJT, conferences, books, and CDs/DVDs/podcasts relating to job function. Support: Staff meetings (weekly), small group, meetings with Senior Pastor as needed.
