The Lord is My Strength, My Song and My Salvation.

Our tattered world has little to offer a weary soul. Our own lives have little strength or ability to overcome what we face. Is there hope? Are there answers anywhere?

From the wisdom and promise of the Old Testament scriptures we find God speaking to us of his response to our need. Through the mouths of two of the greatest prophets in history, God declares an amazing truth:

The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him. (Exodus 15:2)

Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. (Isaiah 12:2)

But what does this mean? What was God trying to say through Moses and Isaiah's declarations (indeed celebration)? Both Moses and Isaiah had a viewpoint that declared that God wasn't just going to answer our prayers ...read on here.

Book Review- "A Grace Disguised: How The Soul Grows Through Loss"

image

Jerry Sittser is a man who went through an incredible tragedy, the death of 3 members of his family, in a single incident. The book, A Grace Disguised, is the journey of pain and peace that Jerry made as he walked through the years of struggle that followed that terrible day. A Grace Disguised is not a “self help” or “grief recovery” book as you might expect. Instead, it is a brutally honest, and yet penetratingly encouraging search of one man to find some answers in the midst of devastating pain. You are swept along, like Jerry and his family, into the personal thoughts and actions of ones who face their regrets, fears, brokenness, heartache, freedom and future.

But this book is more than just a story, it is a deep and pastoral look into the most profound questions we ask (or ignore) in times of tragedy. Questions like “why?”, “where was God?”, “was this God’s will?”, or even “does God bring tragedy?”

15 Years of Modern Worship: We'll Review 60 Albums in 60 Days!

image

We started on the Internet in 1993 and by 1994 we were connecting with other worshipers and leaders online. A lot has changed in the last 15 years of worship. We have been reviewing 15 years of modern worship albums over 60 days. One album review per day. (ya, we tried to do it in 50 days, but extended it 10 more to get some additional great albums in review).

Chime in and tell us what you think of the album each day, as we walk forward to the present, starting back with 1998.

Just 10 days left of reviews (but you can review all the albums you may have missed too!). You can follow the reviews on twitter or on Facebook. We'll release a new album review each day, so stay tuned!
